1. Create your base model: Get started with Illustrator by creating a new document: File> New. set the dimensions to PowerPoint's default size of 10 x 7.5 inches or 720 x 540 px, which is a 4: 3 aspect ratio. Make sure the color mode of your document is set to RGB by checking File> Document Color Mode> RGB, as these colors are only visible on one screen. Choose a color theme that matches your customer's brand. For this example, I chose 5 colors, many of which match my logo:
Your created layout in Illustrator or Photoshop are not editable in PowerPoint, so anything you include in this graphic part of the template, will be the same for every slide you use it on. Here are three important tips to optimize your design for use in PowerPoint:
  • Make sure to select a font for your PowerPoint slide content that your customer likely already has, such as one of the fonts that come with Microsoft Office or Adobe Font Folio. I chose Helvetica. If you are using a less common font, make sure you send the license information to the customer so that they can legally obtain this font as they will need to change the content displayed in that font.
  • When you create your PowerPoint graphics templates in Illustrator or Photoshop, only include text as a placeholder and DO NOT include text in your design when exporting. Your customer does not need raster images of text, it is up to him to adjust the text boxes himself. You can add the editable text box later in PowerPoint.
  • Don't create complex charts, tables or data visualizations to avoid complexity.
2. Export your designs as PNG files: Export each artboard to its own PNG file by clicking File> Export> PNG> Export> OK. When working with multiple artboards in Illustrator, you must check "Use Artboards" to specify the artboard to be exported to each PNG file. Make sure to set each PNG on a transparent background with 300 PPI resolution.

3. Create a new PowerPoint presentation: Now go to Powerpoint and click on File> New Presentation. Then go to View> Master> Slide Master. You are now in a view mode where you can edit and create slide masters. Slide masters are a hierarchy of slides, it stores information about the topic of a presentation.
You will notice that a main slide menu on the left has several types of templates to choose from. Since we are going to create a title slide next, click the Title Slide Layout option in the left menu.

4. Create your title slide master: Now we want to import the artwork we created in Illustrator into the title slide master. To do this, click Insert> Photo

5. Create your master content slides: Open your slide master again. Select Title and Content Layout Template from the main slide menu. Insert your PNG file and send it to the background, so you can position and design your text boxes in the background of your PNG layout using the text editing option on the toolbar. tools on top.
To apply custom colors to a text or image, select the Fill Color option and click "More Colors ..." in the drop-down menu that appears. Click the RGB Sliders button and enter specific numeric RGB values to apply your custom color scheme as desired. 6. Create your final slide: Go back to the Slide Master window and click New Layout, which will give you a simple basic master slide with a title text box and footer boxes. Removes the text boxes from the footer.
We are going to rename this slide by clicking Rename and typing "Complete Main Slide Layout" in the resulting text box. This is so that your customer can see this slide as the last slide in the presentation.
Then insert your PNG and send it to the background, styling the text on your last slide as you wish. Click Close Mask to add this last slide to your master slide collection.

7. Save it as a template: To do this, click File> Save As> PowerPoint Template (.pptx). Now you can use your PowerPoint template for your purpose!
